Windows 10: Virus & Threat Protection "Allow on Device" option removed.

I've been using some of my own software for years and ever since upgrading to windows 10 it would get denied. I could tell the Virus & Threat protection to allow on device and resume normal operations, but recently now it only gives me two options, Remove or Quarantine. Why was the option to allow on device been removed? I trust my software and will continue to use it, but whoever keeps updating windows 10 virus settings is making it harder.


If I can't regain the option to have what software I choose to use be "allowed on device" I will edit the registry files and permanently disable real-time protection.

Persistent Threat Message in Virus & Threat Protection in Windows 10

Hi,

I have recently uninstalled CCleaner from my PC.

Under Current Threats in Virus & Threat Protection, I keep getting the message that there's a threat from Appiriform_CCleaner.

I've tried the option to Remove this but even after a re-boot the message remains.

Can someone please suggest how to resolve this?

As an alternative approach, you can allow that utility through the Controlled Folder Access section of WIndows 10 security . . .

Open Windows Defender Security Center

Go to Virus & threat protection - Virus & threat protection settings

Scroll down to Controlled folder access

From there, you can add Dell Data Vault to the list of safe or allowed apps to prevent it from being blocked

Please do not leave Controlled Folder Access turned off permanently

ETD_GetSMART.exe is HP Software and it is safe, that software is designed to check your hard drive for imminent failure and warn you

You can add that to the list of safe files in Controlled Folder Access to get rid of this warning

From there, you can add an app to the list of safe or allowed apps to prevent them from being blocked
