    Viruses coming back after restart


    Hi I recently downloaded Norton 360I ran a full PC scan which found and removed 1 virus. I then did a start up scan, which found and deleted 11 more viruses.Each time I run a start up scan, Norton finds the same 11 viruses it says it previously removed.I cannot find where they are located as there is no file path showing. A search of C drive using keywords doesn't yield any results.Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for your patient help and analysis, zbook. I'll step through some of your suggestions over the next few days - there's a lot to do and some look a bit hairy! That is, for a PC that is working sweetly right now...

    One step I did try right away was to answer your question about whether my BIOS is up-to-date. I had no success at the AMI site but did get some info from this commercial site:

    Question on viruses and documents

    Once the virus is removed just use a reputable antivirus program like AVG. I suggest AVG because it does check usb devices for viruses automatically once you stick the usb drive into the usb port.
