Please don't gaslight me about how I'm not using the spelling function correctly. When I try to spell out words such period or comma, it simply inserts the punctuation mark.

Microsoft voice access and Dictation spelling mistakes

i'm having difficulty using Microsoft voice access or dictation as it continues to spell things incorrectly. It is not that it is choosing the wrong word, which does occur, and somewhat expected, but it will spell words probably like they sound, not as they are spelled. Ie. Bilateral was spelled bulateral which is not even a word or different was Differnt. This happens to many different words and is not consistent. Is there a way that it will write words that exist in the english language and not spell them as they may sound? Also, I am doing the typing in both edge and firefox.

Thank you so much for any assistance.

  3. Windows Voice Commands - stop "go to <word>" from searching Cortana

    Hey!

I am using Windows Voice Access on my computer but have an issue with some of the commands. Specifically, when trying to navigate while writing text, Voice Access lists commands that start with "Go to." These work fine for the basic ones like "Go to start of paragraph" but I am finding that it often mistakes my navigation command for the "go to" command to search Cortana (the thing that opens when you press the Windows button).

Here is an example: The Windows list of commands for navigating text (foound here) includes the ability to navigate to specific words by saying "Go to <word>".

However, instead of changing the placement of the curser (by going to that Word, paragraph, etc.), it often searches Cortana for the word I listed. IT's really annoying as it switches app as well.

What is odd is that if the command begins with "Go after" instead, there is no problem. It's clear that there are conflicting commands and that the Cortana one is taking precedence over the text navigation one in some cases.

Does anybody know what I am doing wrong or how to stop "go to" commands from opening Cortana all the time?

    Thanks!

Cortana Voice Commands for Music Not Working

    Hi Brett,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10!

What is the edition of Windows 10 (Home, Education, Pro etc.)?

I understand that voice commands for Cortana are not working. If you have Windows 10 PRO installed in the system, then I would suggest you to try the following steps to change some group policy settings.

      • Press Windows key + R, type
        Gpedit.msc
        and hit ENTER.

      • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search

      • Check for: 'Allow Cortana' and 'Do not allow web search'
        – Make sure they are ‘Not Configured’ or set ‘Allow Cortana’ to Enabled and ‘Do not allow web search’ to Disabled

      • Open an elevated command prompt and run:
        gpupdate /force

      • Go to Settings > Verify and correct: Time, Region and Language

And, then go to Settings > Apps and Features > Manage optional features > Download Speech Recognition and Text-to-speech
NOTE: The troubleshooting steps are only applicable to
    Windows 10 PRO
    .

Let us know if the issue gets resolved using the troubleshooting steps.
