Tonight I had a PC crash where my screen froze for a minute or two and all fans ramped up. After the crash I got a black screen and then my system rebooted on its own. I am running windows 11.My specs are as follows:CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600XGPU: RTX 4070 SuperMother Board: MSI MPG B650 EDGE WIFI ATX AM5

I'm running into somewhat regular Critical failures (Kernal-Power) that hard reset the computer. I first tried replacing the PSU and adding another 200W, but that didn't help. I noticed that the Kernal-Power 41 Criticals tend to follow an Error like this:

So I keyed in on the Volume7 aspect (underlined by me), stopped using that Volume7 drive for the applications I was running and it got a lot better, maybe crashing once a day. Sometimes when the computer was idle, sometimes not, but when I was running an app from that volume (an SSD in this case), it happened much more often. I then tried moving the drive to another M2 slot on the motherboard, no difference. I put the drive into a PCIe M2 adapter, it read the drive fine, and same thing happened -- not using the drive actively and it crashed. As a last resort, I pulled the PCIe adapter out to see if the drive was the issue. Lo and beyond it crashes again a day later, but this time it references Volume 6 in the pre- kernal error.

I'm at the end of my rope -- it's like an error that is traveling based on which disks I have mounted? The Motherboard, RAM, GPU,PSU are all new, posting, functional. I see one error in device manager for Display Adapters -> Microsoft Basic Display Adapter that I can't clear, so I've disabled it. Can't think of anything else odd.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

What I have is event 162 rather than 161 -- I'm not sure if the solutions will work the same, but I did flash the BIOS.
