Clean install of 20H2, but this was happening on 20H1 (2004) as well.

The volume bar on the left that appears only when you adjust the volume will work fine normally, but when the laptop goes to sleep and I wake it up and log in again, the volume bar will work fine, until I change the audio output to a different device.

I'll try and explain how it happens:

Volume bar will show the volume going up and down when I adjust it, at this time the volume will be playing out of the laptop speakers.

I will leave the laptop alone for a while, come back, wake it up from sleep and log in, try adjusting the volume and the volume bar will still work fine, but as soon as I plug in headphones, it glitches out and shows a little 'X' on the floating volume bar (as if the device were muted) even though the volume is changing in the background when I adjust it with the volume keys.

If I click on the audio icon in the taskbar, that shows the correct volume level that I'm actually on and I can adjust it from there as well, but the floating one won't fix until I reboot the PC.

I'm uploading a screenshot that shows the floating volume bar at 0% volume, and the right taskbar clearly not muted and actually at 32% volume.

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? It's quite annoying to have to reboot every time the volume bar breaks which is very often.

I'm currently on 19042.630 (just updated last night), but this was happening on all previous 20H1/20H2 builds as well.

    Raid 0 help

Hi all, I've followed the IRST raid installation directions and I have created myself a Raid 0 volume. Rapid storage confirms my successful migration from a system disc to a raid 0 array. I'm also able to select it as my boot device in BIOS, but what I don't understand is why it is not listed in my Drives under my computer

In fact, my computer still lists my original C: drive with the original capacity. I feel as if I've miss an important step here and I'm unsure how to proceed.

  3. Diskpart not locating volume with windows installed on it

    Hello,

I have a desktop that is currently stuck in a Repair loop, and goes to BSOD. One thing I found is when I try to rebuild BCD it says Total identified Windows installations: 0.

Currently it appears Windows is installed on the X:\ drive of this computer, but when I check diskpart and list volumes it doesn't show X:\ and none of the volumes displayed have a system partition in them.

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it!

    Windows 10 Volume bar missing

    Hi,

Your concern regarding the missing volume bar when pressing the volume keys can be caused by a sudden change on your device configuration or corrupted/missing driver. To isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

    • Which Windows build version is running on your device? Type
winver in the search box and press Enter to help you identify.
    • Have you made any changes on your device prior to your concern?
    • What other troubleshooting steps have you performed to resolve your concern?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you perform the steps provided on this support article on how to troubleshoot sound/audio
problems in Windows. The article include steps on how to reinstall the audio driver to rule any adapter issues.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.
