Windows 10: Volume C: is dirty and nothing works

    Volume C: is dirty and nothing works


    Hi! I'm not sure what happened but after installing a new m.2 ssd my old one is now dirty for some reason and windows keep tryng to repair it upon boot but nothing happens, I've tried all the usual steps from windows maintenance etc. I also tried running the "CHKDSK C:" and it ran but the disk is still dirty. I tried running with parameters /f and I've also tried following This guide and I still have the same problem. I'm completely lost on what to do from here. any help?

    Is it bad if I leave Volume - c: is Dirty?

    Hey Dave! Thank you for the fast response!

    When i ran chkdsk C: /f /r /x it told me to chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. would you like to schedule this volume to be checcked next restart? I do (Y)

    then restart my pc and its does the repairing and scanning on startup for like 5 seconds then i sign in and we back to square 1 with volume C is dirty still.

    Hello, I recently encountered a problem with my NVMe drive - it says my volume is dirty. So I started researching on the internet and I've tried everything found on the first pages on Google so far, but nothing helps. I've tried running cmd with Admin
    and chkdsk /r, it wanted to (schedule) restart computer and when I ran the command again after restart to check if it worked it didn't. I've also tried running in safe mode cmd only (because it said it can't fix anything unless volume is not in use) but it
    didn't help either. And so on, so on. It's an infinite loop with no solution for me, that's why I'm asking here for support. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Windows 10 says c: is dirty

    ran fsutildirty query c:

    reported volume - c: is dirty.

    i restarted the system several times, it still gives me the same error.
