Earphone volume too loud or too quiet on Windows 10

Hi I'm having a weird problem on my laptop running Windows 10 Pro. The earphone volume is either too loud or too quiet, and seems to switch between these two upon every restart. When it's too loud, keeping it at 1/100 is equivalent to 20-30/100 when sound was normal, when it's too quiet, keeping it at 100/100 is equivalent to 10-20/100 when sound was normal. Already googled extensively and tried pretty much every suggestion I found with no results:

    • Enable/disable loudness equalization in playback device settings
    • Enable/disable Windows Sonic for headphones in playback device settings
    • Check for errors in sound devices in device manager - no errors
    • Update sound drivers - all updated
    • Try different earphones - tried like 4 already, definitely not an issue with earphones
    • Even tried system restore, still not fixed

Does anyone know what else to try?

  3. Volume jumps to 100

    Hello,

When I plug in my headphones the volume goes automatically to about 12 (which is a feature I love).

But when I unplug my headphones, the speaker volume jumps automatically to 100!! (This is a feature I hate).

I am using the new XPS 13 (2015) and I installed Windows 10 in early August.

I've disabled and re-enabled the sound drivers, and the update check is telling me they are the latest ones.

Please help me or post if you have similar issues!

  4. volume jump to 100 after moving to another application, only on earphones.

    Volume Jumps to 100%

    Ever since I downloaded
Windows 10, I've had an issue where whenever I'm playing a video anywhere (youtube, local file, etc.), pausing, waiting a few seconds, and playing again would result in a volume change to implicitly changes to 100% without any real change in the speaker volume
meter, and I need to readjust the volume every time to change it back.

I've read some "fixes" some other people had suggested but none of them have worked. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how I can fox this issue?
