  1. Volume Mixer Always Resetting Application Too Low

I keep the master volume of my computer at 40, which works great for me, I can adjust the audio in game settings if necessary, and if that doesn't pan out, I occasionally use the volume mixer. The other day I booted up Red Dead Redemption 2, and I noticed that in the volume mixer it was set to 3, so I turned it back up. Every other time I use the volume mixer, I've just set the volume and left it, because it remembers the setting every time I launch that application. Well now every time I launch RDR2 it is reset to 3 in the volume mixer. How do I clear this so it stays at 40 (along with basically every other application)? No other application, game or otherwise, is being reset like this.

It may be worth noting that I recently was away for a long time, so when I came back nearly everything on my computer had to update, including Steam, RDR2 and other games, and Windows itself, no idea how that may have caused this though.

  3. Tendows Win User
Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.

  4. Volume Mixer Always Resetting Application Too Low

Issues with the Volume mixer on windows 10.

    Hi Margit,

I appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    1. What is the exact issue that you are facing?

    2. Did you receive any error message?

    3. Does that mean that the Volume mixer icon is not present on the desktop?

    4. Are you facing this sound issue on any specific application, since you had mentioned Skype?

If the Volume mixer icon is missing from the desktop, this issue may arise when the notification for the Volume mixer is not turned on in the settings.

Please follow the below steps and check if that helps to resolve the issue.

    • Type Notifications in the Searchbar and select Notifications and action center.

    • Select the option “Select which icons appear on the taskbar”.

    • Make sure the Volume icon has been turned on from the settings.
If the issue still persists, I suggest you to download and install any pending updates that needs to be installed on the computer through Windows update and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Hope that the information helps. Please do let us know whether you are able to retrieve the icon to the Action center. If the issue still persists, we will be glad to assist you.

    Thank you.
