Volume slider audio ding only occurs if a new volume is selected

Hello, I have this problem where I have to change the volume from something other than what I want the volume to be at to hear at what level I am setting the volume. For instance, I normally want my volume at one hundred percent. To hear the volume, I need to take the slider from 100% to 99% and let go of left click. The issue is sending my OCD through the roof.

    :)

  2. System Tray Volume Slider ding noise when adjusting the volume.

I noticed that the volume slider no longer makes the ding when adjusting the volume. This is very annoying especially when trying to adjust the volume for multiple external sources. I now have to make sure something is playing when changing the output device.
So very annoying. I understand people are annoyed by the ding when adjusting the volume but it doesn't make sense to have it either on or off. Make a toggle to turn it on or off. Maybe one exists, I sure would like to know how to reenable it though.

    Thanks.

Audio sources default / startup volume

The audio is integrated on my Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard and is listed as Realtek ALC 892 8-channel high definition audio CODEC. The problem occurs randomly, but I think I sometimes see a correlation with opening a new browser tab. I run both Firefox and Chrome concurrently, and both are up-to-date. The last time it seemed to have occurred with opening a new tab in Firefox, but as I said, it often happens randomly. Event viewer is not logging any Firefox or Chrome errors.

From the crash information I posted above, it appears that it is a Windows fault rather than an application as suggested by the error fault information, which is why I'm looking for a possible work around. Event viewer show the earliest error occurred on 4/14/2017 and was uploaded via error reporting to Microsoft. I was hoping to find a way to keep the affected input channels from coming back on to the (loud!) speaker level I use for other other audio input sources. The volume mixer's channels come back on to the speaker level setting, not to the top end of the channel's volume slider. Not all slider volumes are affected when this happens. The line in channel always does it, but system sounds and email (Thunderbird) channels are usually not affected.

Volume slider audio ding only occurs if a new volume is selected

Is the new volume slider supposed to not show what volume you have?

it appears that the new volume slider in your IO.S Windows 11 does not display the current volume level numerically. Instead, it displays a visual representation of the volume level using a bar.

Sincerely, I am afraid, out of ideas.

The bar next to the number is likely a design choice to provide a visual cue or aid in interpreting the volume level. While it may not have any functional purpose in terms of adjusting the volume, it could serve as a helpful visual indicator for some users.

If you prefer to see the numerical value of the volume level, you may be able to find an option to display it in your sound settings or through a third-party application or plugin.

Try in your system if you got these options:

Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Volume mixer".

Click on the "Device properties" link under the volume slider.

In the Device properties window, click on the "Additional device properties" link.

In the Speaker Properties window, go to the Levels tab.

Look for the option that says "Display volume slider". Make sure the checkbox next to it is checked.

Click OK to save the changes.

Once you've completed these steps, you should see a numerical value next to the volume slider in the taskbar. This value will change as you adjust the volume using the slider. If you don't see the "Display volume slider" option, it may not be available for your specific audio device or driver. In that case, you may need to explore third-party applications or plugins to add this functionality.

    Let me know,

    Regards,
