  1. Volume slowly lowers and then jumps back to high

About a week ago I started noticing intermittent issues with the volume on my HP laptop. Now it is constant. The volume will start normally for a few seconds and then slowly lowers to 0% and then jumps to full volume and begins slowly lowering again. The volume slider does not track this change, but that is what it sounds like. It does not seem to matter if I have the volume set to 10% or 50% or 80% to start with, the same thing happens. I have tried updating, disabling, and uninstall/reinstalling the drivers - no improvement. I have also sent in an error report to Microsoft, but I have not heard back.

    :)

Volume changes with jumps high and low

    Hi

I have a problem where the volume would jump up from its current setting to something higher.

It occurs whenever I pause a video for at least a minute or longer and on resume the volume becomes louder. If I press my volume button just once, either up or down, it "returns" to its current volume setting that I have it on.

I say "returns" because I can't tell if it sounds lower than I had it originally. I feel as if I have to increase my volume to hear it.

I'll try my best to clarify.

    For example,

By default I set my volume to '10'. When I watch a video and pause and later resume it, the volume is decidedly louder than 10.

I check my volume setting and its still set to 10, it just sounds louder, at least 5-7 levels louder. So I increase or decrease my volume by one, either raise it to 11 or lower it to 9, and the volume is decreased back to "normal" then I return it to my
    desired level of 10.

But now, as I listen to the video, it sounds too low, like 5 levels lower. I have to increase to 14 just to hear dialogue.

This occurs when I pause and resume a video or when I open a new window/tab with a new video. Basically, whenever a video is played.

Is there a fix for this, perhaps some driver update or sound tweaking, because it far too tiring and annoying dealing with this all the time.

I have realtek, if that helps.

BTW, this was never a problem for me when I still had Win8.1, if that means anything.

Volume slowly lowers and then jumps back to high

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
