    Volume stays at max no matter what level it's at if I'm not using headphones.


    One of the Windows 11 security updates from last year Specifically in November messed up my volume and now my volume always stays at maximum even if my volume is at 0 or a very low level. It's been troubling me for months and my first thought was to search through the questions on this site to see if any of them were similar to my problem, but I didn't find any. This is really annoying me.

    Headphones not changing Volume

    My Windows laptop just updated to the Windows 10 May Update (1903). After the update, as soon as I plugged in my earbuds into the headphone jack, the volume goes straight to 100, no matter what volume is shown on the actual volume slider. Changing the
    volume doesn't do anything, the volume is still at max level. Is there any way to fix this?

    Windows 10 maxes out volume sometimes

    I got the same problem and installing new software is not helping. I got Asus T100HA notebook. My sound devices listed in the device manager are: Intel SST Audio Device (WDM) and Realtek I2S Audio Codec. As mentioned above, when watching youtube or a movie
    on VLC, after hiting pause and play again, the volume is maxed out which is kinda unpleasent for ears especially when I am using headphones. Then /i quickly have to move volume buttons on the notebook to lower the volume. What is weird is that while usually
    one click is 2% volume, it is always one click after this auto volume maxing to move the volmy back to my desired level like 12. So that may suggest that according to the volume indicator it is not maxed out and touching the buttons refreshs the setting. Either
    way it is extremly annoying. Maybe we should sue somebody for hearing damage?

    Cannot change volume level on headphones

    I noticed today that when I have headphones plugged in I cannot change volume level. It doesnt matter what level I set the volume I hear is always same. It is same even when I set 0.

    In image below you can see that when I set 0 level in windows settings the music still plays, when I set 100 level the music still plays at about the same level.
