Windows 10: Volume stuck at 100 and won't go off screen

My volume is stuck at 100 and won't go down! I have tried restarting the computer, troubleshooting the audio, and task manager, and its still at 100, and every time I try to reduce the sound it automatically goes back to 100. Plus the volume display wont disappear from the top left hand corner! please help!

Volume stuck at 100 and won't go off screen

The volume is stuck at 100 on my Asus laptop. It will not go down and will not go off the screen. It is like its actively staying up. Some functions won't work like copy and paste with the mouse because the volume is actively going "up" to 100 and staying
there.

Please help!!

 

Volume Mute Light won´t change color

Before I follow your suggestions, a quick update: as the updating didn´t seem to work I stopped trying and just left it alone for awhile. About a half hour later I looked over and saw that the mute light was now blue. I tried the button but it and the volume buttons did not work at all. On the screen I was told that I needed to reboot, which I did and now the system has returned back to the way it was before: everything works except that the mute light does not change to blue as it should when the speakers are not muted. WTF?

 

Volume struck at 100%

On new Dell Inspiron laptop, Volume Control is displayed in top left corner of screen and won't go away. Volume is stuck at 100%. If I lower the volume, it automatically goes back to 100%. It is as if the volume-up button is stuck on. And also my Volume
button don't work.

Please help!
