Windows 10: VPN credentials will not clear Windows 11

Windows 11 credentials will not clear. VPN connection when I hit connect tries a stored connection login. It should as me for a new password each time.I have tried to use CLEAR settings and it doesn't work.

Hello. I utilize a PowerShell script to install our companies vpn connection with the Windows built in VPN feature. I have never had any issues running this process before. Today marked the first day for a new remote user.

After attempting to connect, the user is prompted with the error "The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during the initial negotiations with the remote computer."

Clearing the user's credentials in the VPN settings doesn't seem to work. After doing so, I'm prompted with the same message. I checked my Meraki event log and it seems the connection is being passed with no user sign in.

I tried clearing the credentials on my machine and it worked as should.

I've tried uninstalling the network adapter, disabling -RememberCredential in the script, running all Windows updates and still nothing.

Here is the script with sensitive information replaced.

Add-VpnConnection -Name "X" -ServerAddress x.com -AllUserConnection -AuthenticationMethod Pap -Force -L2tpPsk "x@x" -PassThru -RememberCredential -TunnelType L2tp
