    I use Bitdefender security and it includes free VPN so I though I would give it a go and then check out the results.

    After seeing adverts on tv as well as other places claiming to 'Hide yourself be private' etc I cleared out Edge and Bing browsing/history databases.

    With all that nice and clean I then opened the VPN and just clicked on a random country, it was Russia. I then visited websites and did searches on popular sites like the BBC and surfed here and there.

    After about half an hour I closed the VPN, did a reboot and then paid a visit to Bing and lo and behold, everything
    I had looked for was registered in there, all the searches and sites visited.

    So, what actually does VPN do, if Microsoft knows what I am doing and records everything I do from any VPN country in the world, what use is it.

    All the searches are linked to my computer so the IP change seems of no consequence.

    I might be totally wrong about this, I am almost 80 years old and tend to forget more than I remember nowadays
    but I would like some comments on if I am way off or if VPN is actually a con please.

    I am not an expert about Vpn and that's why I would like to know if someone could list me a few trusted Vpns, I would really appreciate any suggestion/ advice.

    Hi,

    To address your concern, provide the answers to the following:

    • Is your WiFi enabled when trying to connect to VPN?
    • Were you able to use WiFi without connecting to VPN?

    If you can use WiFi properly without connecting to VPN, we suggest that you refer to your company's IT folks.
