Windows 10: VPN issues

I'm using Windows 10 home (on a Dell Ispiron 5565), and I connect to my VPN at work regularly. Whenever I connect to the VPN it kicks me off of the Internet and slows everything down to the point where it's not functional. (When I say that it kicks me off of the Internet, the Wifi status bar shows that I'm connected but with no Internet access.) I also have a desktop with the same software and I don't have any of these issues when connecting to the VPN, so it leads me to believe that it's something in the settings on this computer that is conflicting with the VPN. Any suggestions on what I might start looking for? I've tried everything I could think of.
