    VPN wrong "connecting" status - still this stupid bug since ages


    Hi,


    This bug is a little one as it does not prevent VPN to work, but still, this is a stupid bug which should have been addressed many windows 10 versions ago. I cannot believe it is still here.


    When you connect to your VPN and it does not matter which one, I have an L2TP VPN and a PPTP VPN, sometimes, and only sometimes after clicking on "connect" from the VPN list at the top of the window when clicking on the little network icon, the status never goes to connected, but it does stay at "connecting". Actually, the VPN is connected, so the VPN works.this is NOT an issue with the VPN.


    If I connect from the settings/network & Internet/VPN, this does NEVER happen which absolutely proves that VPN configuration is perfectly fine.


    Before some microsoft level 0 or 1 engineer asks to diag for the network or VPN,please, don't. This is useless.


    I repeat that the VPN is working AND that the bug is only present when connecting to the VPN from the network icon. so this is a cosmetic bug.


    Any idea when this bug will be addressed? Or even if the team dev knows about it?

    Display VPN connection status?

    I am using Windows 10, before the latest update I would get separate icon in the tray area to show my VPN network connections. This allowed me to guess whether my VPN to work was connected or not
    by a glance at the tray. In the latest version of Windows 10, the WiFi icon remains the same after connected to the
    VPN network and there is no immediate difference between the LAN or the LAN
    + VPN being connected. To view this I need to mouse over the network icon, where I can then see the status of all connections.

    Is there some way that the status of a VPN connection can be made visible without a mouse over in the tray or as a widget on the desktop?
