    W 10 Mail synchronisation problem with gmail account


    We have a 15 year old Dell Inspiron desktop, with Windows 10 and the Mail app. My wife and I have 4 email accounts: Hotmail, Tiscali, and 2 googlemail accounts. My wife's googlemail has been misbehaving under the Mail app it is OK on the google website. Every so often It fails to synchronise and so does not download the latest inbox entries and does not send messages with attachments, which get stuck in the outbox. I have followed other advice on synch problems by deleting the problem account and then re-creating it. This works fine for a day or so then gets stuck again. My wife is going crazy - any ideas, please? Rebooting the computer does not seem to make any difference.

    Windows Mail app keeps prompting for Gmail account password frequently with the "your gmail settings are out of date" message—
    According to a comment on this post . . .

    Potential Solutions

    Based on some quick research there may be two options that may help resolve this. . .

    1. Enable the 2-Step Verification functionality and security feature with your Gmail account and then use the 2-Step Verification to verify and trust the Windows Mail app to have access to your Gmail account
    2. Enable and use the Less Secure Apps functionality by turning that ON and using your usual Gmail account password with the Windows Mail app to authenticate

    error 0x8007042b when adding a Yahoo Mail account to MS Mail App

    If you’ve tried all suggestions including setting up two factor authentication & creating an app specific password for the account then there may be a problem with the Mail app.
    As it’s also doing this with GMail then it does sound like an authentication problem as both this & Yahoo dislike working with insecure apps.
    The free version of Revo now allows you to uninstall Apps.
