Windows 10: W10 0n VirtualBox?

I have been reading so much about W10 in various places ever since the 29th June roll-out and I'm still waiting for the notification to go ahead and get it.
I have read articles from so many people about how many problem there are with it for them and how many have reverted back to their previous OS because either they have problems or just don't like W10. Also there are those who have said that they didn't have problems and also from those who think it's great.

I really can't decide what to do.... will I go ahead and install it when I get the notification? Will I sit on the fence for a while hoping the MS make their improvements?
Anyway, instead of just waiting to get the notification, I have D/Led the ISO to a USB so that I just have it.

My main point for this thread was to say that I read an article that Brink posted about VirtualBox

and am very interested with it, so that I could put W10 on VirtualBox and still have the luxury of W8.1 at the same time on the same machine.

I'm not totally convinced what to do at this time (still sat on the fence). But would like to hear comments from other users about this subject.

havent seen it ? Maybe its take time 0n ur c0untry .. 0n this version, we can see wall post on your profile and your friends wall .. Its a few change still d0es n0t shown notification .. Nokia should rem0ve the Poke Button and replace it to notification

To be honest.... I am also not convinced on windows 10.
I already rolled back half of our clients (that of course wanted Win 10 immediately)
Most of them are very happy with Win 7

Only the ones on laptops with win 8(1) are more or less happy with Win 10
I am actually the same.
On my laptop (Win 8.1) I did install "Start is Back" that caused the laptop to function more or less like Win7
I NEVER used the tiles (clumsy in my opinion and I would never even consider using the touch option on my laptop (Asus Zenbook) (in fact I disabled it in the settings)

Windows 10 (home) is very limited in the possibilities to tweak it your own way
Group Policy does not work on the Home edition(s) and many features simply can't be switched off.

Either I will upgrade to Pro (which advertises a lot of functionality I don't need) that gives me the option to tweak things like updating, changing the display language (not possible in Home) etc, or I will roll back to Win7

I downloaded VirtualBox as per the tutorial and installed it on my C drive.
When I tried to do a new setup as per tutorial it only lists 32-bit versions to make a selection from. I have a 64-bit but it wasn't listed. Now I'm stumped.....

 

OK, I can't see why it's not listing the 64-bit. I re-read the tutorial and looked through the VirtualBox user manual but still can't see why...... Will go over it again later if I don't get any help.

I have some personal memory and concentration issues going on, so when I get too flustered and everything gets jumbled up, I have to stop thinking about it and do something else. (Hope you guys understand?).

Anyway, I also created a USB ISO on my wife's PC to upgrade her W7 to W10. Will be doing that while I got nothing else to do.

 

Update for this thread.......
I spent time this evening upgrading my wife's Win 7 PC to W10.... My first reaction when it booted back up was OMG !!! The screen resolution was awful. When I found and was able to change it, well, the resolution that was there before is not there any longer and it looks so unprofessional and not sharp like it was.
Also, everything seems so sluggish, it has to think about everything before doing it. My guess is my wife will be going back to her W7 and from what I have seen so far, I think that I will be sticking with my W8.1 and that leads me to the point of this thread and wanting to run VirtualBox and W10.... at this point, I don't think so and will join the ranks of those who didn't like it.

The resolution thing was not all, there is a long list of things that I just didn't like about it and I won't bore anyone with the details.
I jumped from Win XP to W8.1 and it didn't take me long to get used to it and now, I do like it and that's the truth.

I know why. You have to enable virtualization in BIOS. It's called VT-x or AMD-v depending on motherboard and CPU.

It's a shame that I didn't care for W10 and that it was a letdown for me after I was thinking positively about trying it.
But anyway, I hope that your input will help someone else who might have the same issue.

I did install Windows 10 a few months ago on VirtualBox, one of the technical previews. I actually thought it worked well.

But now that I have upgraded and have been using it all the time... it just doesn't feel like the great thing it was cracked up to be... like Windows 7 felt a few years ago. It's just very buggy... it feels incomplete, as many people have already said.

By the way, the sluggishness and incorrect screen resolution were there for me, too, right after I upgraded, but then it all went back to normal. I guess you just have to let it run so that the setup process finishes up and the correct drivers are installed.

 

I found the problem to be a missing driver for my 24" monitor. Overcame that with the right driver that was on the CD that came with the monitor

But Win10 is still outta here. If I'm ever to use it, MS will have to make a whole lot of changes and make it professional ..... I guess that is what you get for FREE !!
