Windows 10: W10 1803 Pro (17134.191), fresh install - some (not all) programs unable to establish...

I recently freshly installed W10. While overall things are working fine, I do have an issue with some desktop programs / Microsoft Store radio apps: They simply won't connect to the internet.


One example is radio.fx (an older, but still very nice desktop app), another one is phonostar (both the desktop version, as well as the Microsoft Store app): These programs will forever attempt to connect to any radio station offered - ultimately to no avail.


Radio streaming in general works (e.g. via the latest Screamer Radio version, or via direct visit of a specific radio station's homepage). It is just that the aforementioned programs / apps don't work.


Some brief additional information:


1.) I am using Bitdefender Total Security 2019. However, e.g. phonostar.exe is positively listed as allowed for as wide access as can be (any network, any protocol, any port, any IP, traffic both ways). So I fear it might not be related to my antivirus, but possibly a service that isn't launched.



2.) These programs did work perfectly before my recent reinstall. I did not, however, install W10 onto a newly formatted hd, but it was a reinstall into an already existing one. All Windows components incl. my personal profile and the "Program Files" as well as the "Program Files (86)" directories were wiped altogether. But possibly something is still lurking there from a previous install, that now is causing trouble?

Program that runs on W10 Home will not run on W10 Pro

Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me resolve an issue with an application that installs and runs fine on Windows 10 Home edition V1709 but will not install on Windows Pro V1803? I have tried all the Run in Compatibility options and none
of them will work. W10 Home is not one of the options for compatibility. Not even the compatibility tester will work against this program.

 

BSOD even after fresh W10 1803 install

I've been having trouble with this Dell laptop for about 8 months now. Every two weeks or so, it either crashes with a BSOD, or simply screen freezes (with audio stuttering) that requires a hard reset.

Dell recently replaced the motherboard and memory, which still did not fix the problem. They then suggested a fresh install of W10 which I did last week.

I had yet another BSOD tonight so I am putting this out here to see if anyone can pinpoint the source of the problem. Minidump is in the 1drive link.

I did a quick view of the dump and it talks about 1by1.exe - I am fairly sure it isn't the problem, but have gone ahead and downloaded a fresh copy just in case.

BSOD with fresh W10 install?

Ok so I got fed up with this and just tried to re install W10 (2nd time) and got more BSODs when all I had installed was

W10

GPU drivers

MOBO audio drivers

skype

google toolbar

steam

1 game

THATS ALL! In 10 years of building PCs and installing OS's I have never had such a problem with installation. Typically its installed and done, but with W10 every single time I install it fresh, there is a BSOD.
