Windows 10: W10 1903 my location incorrect

Both my W10 PC's were updated via WU to 1903 in the last 2 weeks. Home user. Desktop on Ethernet, laptop on wi-fi. ISP is Spectrum.

Running current Ookla Speedtest app on both PC's and 2 phones (1 Android and 1 iPhone). Speedtest is OK on the 2 smartphones.

On my PC's the Windows Speedtest app now thinks I'm in El Paso, TX rather than near Austin, TX, and it displays servers that are located in the southwest of the U.S. and Mexico. Now the server that is preselected by the app is always in Juarez, MX rather than a server in central TX. The list of available servers does not include my local Austin, TX area servers. I can find no way to tell the app that I am located near Austin. On the web, using www.speedtest.net I can forcechange to use servers near Austin, but that does not affect the app. I reinstalled the Speedtest Windows app - no joy. Yesterday I changed my Facebook password and the email I received back from Facebook told me that a device in El Paso changed my password. Spectrum support had me power-down my Spectrum modem and my router for 30 minutes, but that did not fix the problem and they have no other ideas for a fix. My emails to Ookla (Speedtest) have not been answered. The Speedtest screen shows i/p 24.242.21.13 Lat. 31.9386, Long 106.4073 El Paso. That I/P may be for Spectrum El Paso but I and my PC's are NOT located there. Any way to fix?

Location setting

Hi,



This issue could occur due to incorrect location settings or it would depend on your IP address. We suggest you to check the location settings of your PC, and check if it helps. Here are the steps:

• Click the Start button, and select Settings.
• Go to Privacy, and choose Location.
• Make sure that the Location service is On.

If issue persists, then it has something to do with your IP address. It’s because the location detected depends on the location set on your IP address.

Windows 10 Location Incorrect

Tried both these options still getting "My location within 31.1 miles". Tried restarting after each disable and again after each enable. No change apart from occasional relocation of "My Location".

Would consider a reinstall of W10, but seems a bit drastic and haven't got data disc.

Still doesn't answer problem of to different downloads, either, so could end up with another faulty one.
