    W10 64 Bit: installation fail.

Hi there I am new on this forum because I am looking to solve the problem installing W10 64 bit on my pc desktop. I have read many thread on the net but any solution adopted was good. I 've finally found this thread where one member have found how to install W10 64Bit.
In few words I have the same problem by using AMD x2 64 4400+ (soket 939) - Mobo Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe. I have tried to install using a DVD into a clean HD or in a SSD but nothing happen: the w10's logo still remain on the screen.
    Can anyone help me??

Thank in advantage for your support

    :)

Upgraded to Win10, but Want to clean install to x64 Win10

If you upgraded from W8.1 32bit to W10 (you now have W10 32 bit) - correct.

You can not now use Media boot flash W10 64 bit to upgrade 32 bit to 64 bit OS system, this will require purchasing a retail version of W10 64 bit (which a product key will be provided) to install a 64 bit system.

Upgrade from 32 bit t0 64 bit, (any Windows OS version) has always involved a clean new installation.

    Windows 10 Upgrade

I am running W8.1 32-bit and would also like to upgrade to W10 64-bit. (I know my computer is compatible with 64-bit)

I assume from the response that I should do a clean install of W8.1 64-bit (I have the DVD for W8 Pro) first, and then upgrade to W10 64-bit.

    Is this correct?

    Welcome to the TenForums @Paolopd

According to this link that processor does not support the instruction sets necessary for Windows 10 64 Bit.

    Windows 10 AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ | [H]ard|Forum

There are some BIOS settings in the thread that would be worth investigating.

You may wish to confirm this with AMD.

If this is the case a solution will not be found. As an alternative you could try installing the 32Bit version.

Thank you for your advice, but my cpu support NX, PAE and SSE2...but not CMPXCHG16b instruction. Therefore I am looking for some trick to bypass this issue.

Unfortunately there's not many 'tricks' one can do with hardware issues. I have had to discard a few computers with CPUs that won't run the newer version of Windows, including the AMD x64. An example I have is a fine Notebook that ran WinXP but the Centrino technology wouldn't allow upgrading to a newer Windows. However, it also wouldn't allow running Linux Mint 16 or later [or other later versions of Linux Distros] but does work fine with Linux Mint 13, at least for awhile until LTS/Long Term Support ends.

  7. Agree with @Berton. Your processor doesn't support the instruction set. This would be very low level code.

    @Berton.
I dont know if it is possible, but I think that in every cpu can is possible to give some instructions, or not?

Some instructions, Yes or Maybe, some Not. But newer Operating Systems change things, demand more from the hardware and the instructions are coded into the CPU when made, not much can be done about that.

You could also see if the latest BIOS can be applied that may add the instruction set to support Win10 64 bit. Usually windows setup will tell you if the processor is not supported.
