Windows 10: W10 activation

Hello, I'm having trouble activating my windows 10 home. It was all good until I made a huge hardware update recently and now only my old hard drive remains. Windows on that hard drive detected the hardware change and then decided to deactivate my windows. The problem is I had my W10 updated from W7 via the free update that was couple of years ago. Now I don't have my W7 licence it was a really old PC that my dad bought and what could be now 14 years ago Vista at the time... so I don't really see how I could find my old W7 licence.
It really bothers me too see the 'Activate Windows' on my screen all the time and I really don't want to buy another licence just to do my HW update again and repeat the whole process. Any tips?
I have searched the web for answers to this solution but It's always either try a new key or do something in the CMD and I want to do that as a last resort.

W10 activation and motherboard failure.

Hey, wasn't sure what section to put this in.

Motherboard died yesterday, managed to source a replacement but I believe I am correct in thinking that once I swap the board W10 will deactivate itself and demand I buy a new copy?

If so, would I be able to get around this by booting the system with a spare HDD, installing W7/8, upgrading to W10, then connecting the original drive (so the MB has been used/activated with W10)?

• Did you add your fsnet.co.uk (POP3) address as an additional account in W10 Mail App?

I suggest you to remove the account and re-add it.

Yup! I saw it in there this morning. I really like this new activation route they have gone so far. Super easy to maintain.
