    W10 and 4.1 speakers

I'm experiencing a weird problem. I have an old desktop (but still pretty up to date) that I've just upgrade from W7 to W10.
The sound card is running correctly if I go to control panel/sound/speakers/configure. I have a 4.1 setup and with the test button I can hear each speaker separately loud and clear. The problem is it's only running in stereo mode if I try to play something. Since the sound card was a bit old with no W10 drivers available, I replaced it with a brand new ASUS Xonar SE. Again it only plays in stereo. Since everything was working with W7, I'm positive that it's related to W10. Any suggestion?

    :)

Windows 10 recognizes my UE Megaboom as a headset and not a speaker will not work?

    Hi Rachael,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I suggest you try the steps listed below and check if it works. This issue could be because of the Headphones BT SPEAKER Stereo being set as default. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works.

    • Pair the speaker with your PC.
    • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
      Device Manager.

    • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers
and right click on your Bluetooth speaker (BT SPEAKER Stereo).
    • Choose Disable and acknowledge the confirmation popup. Wait for the screen to refresh.
    • Right click on the same device again and Enable.
    • Exit Device Manager and see if the issue persist.

    Regards,

  3. Speaker / Headphones playing at same time and they are 1 drive.

    Hi,

I'm Nikah, a fellow customer, and an expert user. I'm happy to help answer your question.

Audio playing through headphones and speakers at the same time is a common audio issue we may encounter. If you are experiencing this issue, don’t worry. Below are some possible solutions listed for your information.

Solution 1. Set Headphones as the Default Device

Step 1. Click on the Start menu and select Control Panel to open it.

Step 2. Select Hardware and Sound.

Step 3. Click on Manage audio devices under the Sound tab.

Step 4. On the Playback tab, click on your headphones, and then click on the Set Default button.

Step 5. Click on the Recording tab. Then select your microphone/headphones and click on the Set Default button.

Step 6. Save the changes by clicking OK.

Now try to play an audio file to see if the “audio playing through headphones and speakers at the same time” issue is gone. If no, try the following feasible methods.

Solution 2. Uninstall and Re-install Your Audio Driver

    Step 1. Launch Device Manager.

Step 2. Locate Sound, video, and game controllers and double-click on it.

Step 3. Right-click on your audio device and select Uninstall from the pop-up menu.

Step 4. Check the “Delete the driver software for this device” option and select OK when asked to confirm the uninstall.

Step 5. Once you’ve uninstalled the driver completely, restart your computer.

Then you can manually download the audio driver for your device from manufacturer's official website and install it.

Solution 3. Try to update your audio driver maybe it is outdated or corrupted.

Solution 4. Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Step 1. Type “Troubleshoot” in the search box and select Troubleshoot from the search results.

Step 2. Scroll down to locate Playing Audio in the list and click on it.

Step 3. Click on the Run the troubleshooter button under it. Then the troubleshooter will automatically detect the audio issues on your computer and resolve them. You may need to restart your computer in the process.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Sincerely,

    Nikah J.
