Windows 10: W10 and Asus xxx5l

A couple of months ago following an 'automatic' windows 10 update I developed a problem where the computer wouldn't shut down and the light remained until the battery was drained so obviously couldn't be booted without a mains supply.

Searching the forums apparently the problem was a bug in the update which affected certain laptops and could be resolved by backdating one of the drivers which worked a treat - until this update, when it reappeared.

I can't for the life of me find the routine to resolve the problem and have at least disabled the 'automatic updates' feature.I would be delighted if anyone can help.

Not able to see the DVD drivers in the Windows 10

Original Title: driver dvd

W10 only 1 ASUS dvd drive while the other drives do not see (the ASUS), while w7 (32) receiving the full. Because the machine uses 2 windows(7&10), how do I get enough W10? I'm installing W10 pro, forward guidance behalf, thanks

 

USB keyboard & mouse not working after W10 upgrade

OK resolved -

In another post I found a link to Tenforums .. it has been identified the issue is that theASUS AI Suite II
has an application for fast charge of mobile phones via USB (even if you don't use it) and it blocks USB from working on W10 upgrade. (seemingly only if from W7 to W10)

It's called AICharger+

Remove this function (rest of AI Suite II is fine, and the W10 upgrade works

I checked with ASUS they state this is not a supported W10 application, and Microsoft should disable it during upgrade.

Now upgraded to W10 fine.

ASUS did advise updating 2 drivers as soon as you are on W10 ... and in this order:

#1 Intel Chipset Driver Intel_Chipset_Win10_V10117

#2 Intel Management Engine - MEI1-5_Win10_VER11001157

both files are on ASUS web site

Can you remember anything more on which driver?

I found a couple of threads where they discuss the Intel Management Engine.

Always a good idea to join a thread if it fix your issue so you can find again.

If you have an idea of driver, who was on thread or date you can use the advance search features?

You may also be able to audit your drivers against the ones listed on the Asus site and this might help identify the driver.

If you downloaded a driver any chance it is still in your download folder?

Contact ASUS about the issue if you cannot make the changes in Power or Device Manager. If you have Hibernate/Fast Boot enabled, you can turn off Hibernate, along with pull a power report from powercfg. It helps to know what version this started with.
