computer running windows 10 cannot connect to internet via gigabit switch

After trying to expand the only gigabit port of my technicolor modem router by using the d-link switch failed i then grab the d-link dsl-2770l gigabit modem router to make use of all the gigabit ports provided by the modem instead and of coure the asus still
failed to recognise the ethernet connection (error: cable in unplugged).

So strange both modem router is gigabit (well the D-link ethernet ports are all gigabit whereas only Technicolor only has 1 Gigabit port (GbE) but that is the port I have been connecting the K52F to) but only the one on techincolor modem worked with my
    laptop NIC

After many searches on google some one suggest changing the speed & duplex of the adapter so i give that ago and this what i found:

When the Asus reconnect to the Technicolor modem via the gigaport (GbE) on the modem, on the Laptop I went to: Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network connections, Local Area Connection (the ethernet card), change settings of this connection, Configure,
ADVANCED, Speed & Duplex, and changed from:

AUTO NEGOTIATION to: 10Mbps/Full Duplex - WORKED ! and then

    100Mbps/Full Duplex - WORKED ! then

    1 Gbps/ Full Duplex - WORKED

I then went to: Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network connection, Status, speed is 1Gbps, went to Task manager, Performance, Ethernet the throughput shown is 100 Kbps.

When connect to the new d-link gigabit modem router, changed from:

AUTO NEGOTIATION to: 10Mbps/Full Duplex - WORKED ! and then

100Mbps/Full Duplex - WORKED ! then 1 Gbps/ Full Duplex - nothing, and back to

    Auto Negotiation - NO CONNECTION

    1 Gbps/ Full Duplex - NO CONNECTION

Back to 100Mbps/Full Duplex, I then went to: Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network connection, Status, speed is 100Mbps, went to Task manager, Performance, Ethernet the throughput shown is also 100 Kbps.

Both speed 100Mbps and 1Gbps give the same through put, 100Kbps so that 100Kbps through put is my internet connection and not data transferring speed between computers on the next work hence no differ whether adapter speed is set at 1Gbps/100Mbps/10Mbps?????

The latest driver available for this adapter is dated back to 2012 so perhaps the driver is so old that it isn't compatible with more update gigabit provided by more modern hardware like one use in the D-Link, worked for the Technicolor because it
    uses older hardware?

I assume the K52F is not compatible with gigabit modem router/switch so data transfer between all computers on my network will never be able to connect to the K52F at gigabit speed, 100Mbps max W10 Anniversary update - can't get ethernet at 1Gbps gives 100Mbps :(

  3. Link speed say 100mbps, when it should be saying 1000mbps/1gbps

A few weeks back i got Fiber internet put in. We are paying our ISP for 200mbps. One computer is only getting 50mbps and the link speed in task manager says 100mbps. unlike another PC in my house reading a link speed of 1gbps and is g etting the full 200mbps.

I have tried changing the Speed and Duplex to 1gpbs but the link speed still says 100mbps in task manager. I am still not getting the full 200mbps. I have been testing my speeds with Flash Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test.

If anyone knows how to change the link speed to 1gbps that would be great!

It's probably replaced with MS generic LAN driver? Try reinstalling the driver.

I tried different cables uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Its on both my Nics running at 100mbs and I have a NUC that does the same with Anniversary. I have one PC that has not updated yet and that runs at 1000 mbps I put that cable into my NUC and it will still run 100mbps?

  7. I do think it's a bug with windows 10 Anniversary Update as it happens the same with 100Mbits, it only shows as 10 mbits, but the problem while it's not fixed by Microsoft can be fixed like this:

    - Go to Network and Sharing Centre,
    - click in the Ethernet,
    - then Properties, Configure, Advanced,
then in Energy Efficient Ethernet you have to make it Value: Disabled.

It solves the problem in my case, hope it solves yours also, someone than has the Microsoft call number inform them please!

    Best greetings,

  8. W10 Anniversary update - can't get ethernet at 1Gbps gives 100Mbps

If you are sure you had 1Gig prior to the update it might be a few different things that caused this. Some stuff I can't remember exactly I had to change last July when 10 came out.

Go to the actual driver from Device Manager. Aside from making sure you have the right driver that's not generic. Go to details/advanced and make sure everything is ok (Bandwidth Capability, etc, some are different in the wireless driver vs the Ethernet driver)

Allover windows 10 and anniversary there are various settings everywhere that change things on our PC's that we wouldn't expect. Windows out of the box/factory settings is setup for maximum battery life and that normal just use a PC to Google and read email and that's it. If that makes sense. Its all easy stuff but its gonna take some research and discovery to get it correct. Aside from your internet settings. Also check to make sure you don't have anything set to "metered connection/internet". When I went to this upgrade about 2-3 weeks ago as a Insider I found out its basically a new OS. Most people I think kinda assume the "skin" of a OS is what makes it a update vs upgrade but anniversary has changed a lot just a lot of it is that invisible stuff. In my eyes it was like going from Windows 8.1 to 10. Win 10 to Anniversary was the same to me. Especially how well RAM is managed and start up and so on. Go into power settings and just make sure Ethernet and Wireless aren't set to power management battery saving. I think with Windows having 2 sets up Settings the new and the old some of this stuff is getting screwy in the system. I was trying to fix Bluetooth that seems to be non existent but in the process I lost wifi too and with no luck.
