  1. W10 digital license on 2 computers: one with Home and one with Pro. Moving Home SSD to Pro...

    Hi all,

So I tried to summarise everything into the subject but just in case it's not clear I expand upon my question below:

I have recently removed an SSD from an old computer. The SSD has Windows 10 Home installed on it, with a digital license attached to that old computer's hardware.

I now have a new computer which has a HDD with Windows 10 Pro installed on it, with a digital license attached to the new computer. I intend to format the hard drive, remove it from this new computer, and put the SSD from the old computer into this new computer.

When I boot up the new Pro-licensed computer with the Windows 10 Home SSD installed, how should I proceed? The fact that the two editions differ complicates things somewhat, hence my reaching out to the community. My main priority is to keep all files already on the SSD, and have minimum activation fuss as possible.

The only step I have taken so far is to link the Pro activation to my Microsoft account.

From what I understand, all I need to do is, once I've launched Windows on the new computer with the SSD installed, I insert the Windows Setup USB, choose Windows 10 Pro, choose to keep all files, skip all prompts to put a Product Key in, and sign into my Microsoft account once Windows has installed. Is this correct?

    :)

  2. W10 digital license on 2 computers: one with Home and one with Pro. Moving Home SSD to Pro computer: how to activate?

    Hi all,

So I tried to summarise everything into the subject but just in case it's not clear I expand upon my question below:

I have recently removed an SSD from an old computer. The SSD has Windows 10
    Home
installed on it, with a digital license attached to that old computer's hardware.

I now have a new computer which has a HDD with Windows 10
Pro installed on it, with a digital license attached to the new computer. I intend to format the hard drive, remove it from this new computer, and put the SSD from the old computer into this new computer.

When I boot up the new (Pro-licensed) computer with the Windows 10 Home SSD installed, how should I proceed? The fact that the two editions differ complicates things somewhat, hence my reaching out to the community.
My main priority is to keep all files already on the SSD, and have minimum activation fuss as possible.

The only step I have taken so far is to link the Pro activation to my Microsoft account.

Microsoft account once Windows has installed. Is this correct?

Two digital entitlements/licenses (Home + Pro) for one machine?

    Hi,

is it possible to create *two* Windows 10 digital entitlements/licenses (1 x Home/Core, 1 x Pro) for one device?

The reason is I have 2 rather weak (Atom-class) machines (1 2-in-1 tablet/notebook, 1 mini-PC) with Win 10 Home on them (upgraded from the stock 8.1 with the free upgrade, so no original Win 10 Home), and 2 spare Win 7 Pro retail licenses that I'd like to change
into Win 10 Pro licenses for free at the last minute.

So the plan is to put the 7 Pro licenses on those 2 devices, upgrade to 10 Pro and link them to my MS account, and after I got better hardware, move them to the new hardware (being retail licenses, they should be transferable). However, returning the old devices
to Win 10 Home then would require the Win 10 home entitlements/licenses still intact despite having had Pro installed in the interim.

Is this possible? Or can there be only one (Home *or* Pro) digital entitlement/license for one device?

Even a lot of searching on the web didn't give me any valid answers for this question.
