Windows 10: W10 Enerprise/Workstation processor group size

Hi All,

We work on Windows applications on highly parallel/threaded engineering problems. We are mostly using four-socket server machines such as HP DL580 and Windows server OS. However, due to limitation of OS, we can work only up to 64 threads in parallel known Windows group policy which is limiting in many of our's applications.

Therefore, we installed W 10 Enterprise trial edition on one HP DL580 G8 server with 4 x Xeon E7-4880v2 15 cores each, 30 with HT, updated it and – still there are two processor groups, meaning – we cannot extend numerical simulations to 120 logical cores as we wanted to and as should be possible with Enterprise edition Enterprise support 4 sockets and 256 CPU cores.

Please advise – am I missing something, is it possible that the processor group size is increased upon registration or something else? Thanks!

How to Change the Group by View of a Folder in Windows 10 tutorial

The delay to reply was unrelated to this topic. I was preparing to add a disc drive. The preferred view is working now, and here is the step by step list of what I did, and it includes an additional step at the end. I also rebooted after each step.

1. Reset all views to default.
2. Rebooted.
3. Changed the "My Pc" view to Details and set the "Group By" to [None]. But left everything else at default.
4. Rebooted.
5. "My Pc" view retained the selected setting, alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.
6. Switched to Drive C:\, set it to "Details" and changed the column order to "Name, Size Type and Date". Grouping is available but not applied by the default settings.
7. Rebooted.
8. "My Pc" lost the settings, reverted to "Tile" and "Group by" was active again.
9. Reconfigured to "Details" and set the "Group By" to [None].
10. Rebooted.
11. "My Pc" view retained the selected settings. Alphabetically ordered "Details" without grouping.

Do you get any error message when you cannot access the files?

You can be on one Homegroup at a time. In case you are already on a Homegroup you cannot join one more. If you are not on any Homegroup, I suggest you to try running the Homegroup troubleshooter and check if it helps to resolve the issue. Refer
the steps below to run a Home group troubleshooter and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 1:

• 
  Type “Troubleshooting” in search bar.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on “Network and Internet”,
  
• 
  Select “Home Group”.‌ (You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice)
  

Click on “Next”, and then follow the instructions on your screen

Method 2:

• Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Go to Network and sharing center.
• Go to Advanced file sharing settings.
• Turn off password protected sharing.

Follow the steps to go to Control Panel:

• Type "Control Panel" in the search bar.
