    W10 file app association edit obstacle


    Manual edits to file association choices are restricted to apps that have been prepopulated in the drop down window. In the case of file type .jfif which is a popular image format online, the prepopulated choices exclude the image editing app that I prefer to use and which I installed and which is not a microsoft store item. Is there a work around?

    Setting File Associations - Another Step Backwards

    What's left of it. Shrunk a bit over the years though (Display, Personalisation, help menu). What will be removed next?

    How do i open a aax file with nothing when I accidently associated it with another app?

    To remove file associations for the file type ".aax", follow these steps:

    From an admin Command Prompt, run these commands:

    • assoc .aax=
    • reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.aax" /f
    Alternately, you can edit the registry manually and remove the .aax file association settings.
