W10 Install put Bootfiles on the SSD that I wanted to use for IRST

The Windows 10 Installer put Bootfiles on the SSD that I wanted to use for Intel Rapid Storage Technology's Intel Smart Response Technology, you know the one where you can boost a regular hard drive with an SSD as a 60GB cache. It always worked well for me and was cheaper than buying a 2TB SSD or moving things constantly on and off of a 128GB SSD

Anyway I went to "Accelerate" my System Drive with the SSD and it came up with an error and on inspecting Disk Management I found out it dumped all the boots files on the SSD which wasn't even partitioned yet so I thought I was safe from this problem (but I guess Windows just decided to partition it for me!?!?)

Is there anything I can just quickly type out to move all my booting files to System Drive "C:" so I can freely format and use my SSD? Or do I have to open my case unplug loads of stuff ect ect? *Sad

    :)

  2. Resetting active partition and Installing boot files

Unable to get a solution on how to repair the bootfiles in a newly created active partition I was forced to open notepad through the commandprompt opened through the recovery drive and backup everything on my SSD to an external drive, to wipe the SSD through
the command prompt and then reinstall w7, update it and then upgrade it to w10 again.

  3. Chronic soft freezes in Windows 10

No, my factory made DelI Inspiron 15z has a 32 GB SSD that works as a cache device for the much larger HDD and it uses IRST to make it happen. I just recently upgraded from W8.1 to W10 1511, which made the system very slow. Today I upgraded IRST to the
latest version and now it's usable again. Needles to say that I'm postponing the upgrade to 1607 until Microsoft has solved this problem.

EDIT: Had to update to another version from authors website but ran into a problem. The error states C: isn't a primary partition but as you can see from my original screenshot it is.

Try installing Macrium Reflect Free and make a rescue USB/DVD. Boot from the rescue USB/DVD and there is an option in one of the menus at top to repair startup. You might have to physically unplug the SSD and then boot to the USB/DVD and do the startup repair for it to put the BCD on the C: drive.

The "Macrium Reflect Download Agent" from Cnet looks like scary malware the way they designed it. Giving it a try now.

Just unplug the ssd and when you restart computer windows should do a startup repair.

Marcrium Reflect was a let down, it found the Windows 10 install on C:, then it asked me for an active partition, the list was blank and would not let me continue without an error so then I.....

...tried the Windows 10 DVD I made and startup repair just told me after two tries that it could not repair startup.

In the end I fresh installed Windows 10 from said DVD, but have lost one of my storage drives, even though I tripple checked that I plugged each and every one of them back in correctly, this was why I didn't want to open my case and pull hard drives out. but MSofts bad software makes us do this like cavemen.

I really hate Microsoft's bad design, Why ask me where to install windows if it just sprays windows just anywhere across all of your harddrives after you made a specific choice? Just going to get on with installing my stuff and check the cabling (or dead hard drive) when I wake up because it's late here.

I remember Windows 8.1 Pro install did same thing for me I selected disk to install windows but it created partitions on other disk, that I was planning to use in storage spaces array. From this time I always disconnect other HDDs/SSDs from my system when doing clean install and reconnect it afterwards.
