W10 systray items not grouped hidden?

On my W10 desktop PC, in the systray area, many icons especially those used not often are grouped in a little box that can be clicked open to view all the icons stored there. On my W10 laptop, every systray icon is always visible all the time. Anyone know what's with that?

    :)

How do I see (hidden) quarantined items?

Windows Defender is hiding any items that might be quarantined.

Windows Defender states, "To help protect user privacy, these items are hidden. Click view details to view the items."

The items are still hidden and states that items can only be seen by the administrator. Concerned that a virus may be hiding any items that may be quarantined or detected. Currently running Windows Defender scan and Microsoft Safety Scanner. Computer is
running at a high level. Shouldn't Windows Defender reveal the list of items? If so, any suggestions for correcting the issue? Thank you very much.

  3. All hidden files turned Un-hidden

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I suggest you to re-add them to the hidden items list and check.

    Steps:

    • Right click on the folders to hide, select Properties.
    • Go to General tab, under Attributes check mark the option
      Hidden.
    • Click on Apply and on Ok.

I suggest you not to use any third party anti-virus software. Try to use Windows Defender.

    Refer: Using Windows Defender

Hope it helps. Feel free to contact us for further assistance on Windows Operating System, we will be happy to help you.

W10 systray items not grouped hidden?

    home group in w10

    Hi Gom,

Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community.

Do you get any error message when you cannot access the files?

You can be on one Homegroup at a time. In case you are already on a Homegroup you cannot join one more. If you are not on any Homegroup, I suggest you to try running the Homegroup troubleshooter and check if it helps to resolve the issue. Refer
the steps below to run a Home group troubleshooter and check if the issue is resolved.

    Method 1:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” in search bar.

    • Select Troubleshooting.

    • Click on “Network and Internet”,

    • Select “Home Group”.‌ (You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice)
Click on “Next”, and then follow the instructions on your screen

    Method 2:

    • Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.
    • Click on Control Panel.
    • Go to Network and sharing center.
    • Go to Advanced file sharing settings.
    • Turn off password protected sharing.
Please revert if you face any issues with Windows in future.

systray hidden icons disappear when moused over: when rebooted this issue does not happen. After some time, if I open the hidden systray menu, most of them will disappear as I mouse over them. I do not know if it is triggered by opening a program, a background program, time, or whatever. any clues will be helpful. 40820
