W10 unable to update - Samsung - PrecisionTouchpad on Dell

    Hello!
So, W10 hit me with an alert that it was unable to update automatically, and that i have to continue manually. There are two updates waiting for (manual) intallation:
1 - Samsung - PrecisionTouchpad - Samsung PTP Component Device.
    2 - Intel(R) Corporation - Audio Device - Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller.

I might be a bit paranoid, but I'm concerned about the 1st one - I don't have a Samsung, i got a Dell laptop. Nor is my touchpad made by Samsung AFAIK. Is it a legit update? Why did my Windows have problem updating automatically?
    Thanks mates.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 asking me to uninstall samsung recovery?

    Jenith

My system is a Dell XPS15 with a Samsung SSD

Obviously it meets the main requirements as W10 was already installed. This uninstall request came after your last big update, from 10240 to the major update of end November.

Thanks for your help, have no intention of uninstalling Samsung Recovery as like to keep my SSD working!

    Creating a System Image

    Hi Robert1220,

Did you ever solve this Samsung PC problem ? I know it was one year ago, but maybe it will help me !!

I also have a problem with my new Samsung Laptop PC running the latest Windows 10. The W10 "Recovery" function will not recognize that I have connected a USB connected HDD containing a "system image backup", which I want to restore my PC with. By the way,
I created this "system image backup" on this same Samsung PC about two weeks after I bought it (exactly because I believed I might need it, as now). I know very well how to use the W10 "Recovery" function, because I did have three other Dell PC's running W10
since 2015. Additionally, apart from the "Recovery" function, W10 does recognize the USB connected HDD, (as DW10 unable to update - Samsung - PrecisionTouchpad on Dell :).

Finally, I contacted Samsung Support who immediately said I should be using "Samsung Recovery", and were not interested in helping me with W10 (even though I bought this PC because it was a fully W10 operating system). Of course, because I know it well,
I want to continue using the W10 Recovery function. Any help that can be offered would be much appreciated !!

W10 unable to update - Samsung - PrecisionTouchpad on Dell

Hi, I'm not aware of such an alert- just the typical ones with an MS error number.
Do you have the exact text?

I would run scans on your system with a couple of different programs- malwarebytes and a different AV to whatever you're currently using.

Hi, any more info on this. Today this happened to me:

Notification area message: Can't install updates. Select this message to fix.

    Windows update area displays this:

    Update status
    Updates are available.

Samsung - PrecisionTouchpad - Samsung PTP Component Device

We need to start a separate installation to complete this update. Select Install to start it. If you don't see the install window, minimize this window, or check the taskbar.

I have an Acer. My touchpad simply is listed as: HD Compliant touchpad.

Also, is there a way to hide an update in Win 10? I cannot find that.

    Thanks for any input.

Thanks dalchina, I used the Windows 10 tool already and this update is not listed in the available updates and cannot be hidden. I will not be rebooting my machine until I get some more info. I will post to Acer.
