    w10 update stuck on "checking for updates"

    I have a desktop running w10 pro that has windows update stuck on checking for updates. I left it on for 6 hours and it still is stuck. I tried to stop using net stop, but got an error saying the service could not be stopped. Services says the updater
    is stopping, but seems to be stuck there also - cannot select stop. Any suggestions?

    W10: Update (KB5032189) stucked (installing) at 73%. How to get rid of it? PC started/stopped tens of times. Task manager doesn't allow to stop the installation process.

    The CBS logs need to be thoroughly analyzed to narrow down the issue. Or do a repair installation right away. A repair installation fixes most of the CBS errors automatically.
