I installed the update, which failed and removed the connection to my Nexus 7.
I followed the instructions from Brink, bit got this response

Follow correctly the steps as mentioned on post #21. It should work.

 

In your cases "Unknown device" would be your phone. *Smile

 

If I select "use USB for charging" or "USB for File transfers" I get

but this doesn't give me much access to files on the tablet

 

Yep it was. *Smile I do wish Microsoft would not release downdates. It's all over the web today.

 

It looks like the driver for your phone is already properly installed.

Check using the tutorial below to see if it may help to ID what the "Unknown device" is.

I got as far as step 4, but was presented with



I tried Universal Serial Bus Controllers, then MTP USB Device, which appears to have worked.
