Windows 10: W10 ver1903 FEATURE UPDATE at 7oct2019: Still have version 1809, see GIFs below

Today, 7oct19, received a notification to Get Started with OneDrive Personal Vault, storage for really sensitive information.

Told me I needed the latest OS version. Checked for Windows 10 Updates and went through the process (see GIF directly above this sentence). Took forever. Went away to do something else. Came back and the PC had shut down. I powered up and, as you can see from the GIF directly above this sentence, it has stuck at Downloading 99%.


I checked my broadband usage for this download. It took approx. 5Gb, yep, that's right. Yet, nothing has changed.

The latest OS build I have is as per the first GIF in this post, installed in March 2019.

My expectation is that the server downloading this latest update would have checked my PC and then told me that the update was unsuitable for my version. Bur, that didn't happen.


What's happening, guys?

Is this a new form of hacking or data mining?


I immediately updated my antivirus software and did a scan, which came up clean.

Thank you for performing the troubleshooting steps. I have done research on this and animated GIF support is still fairly new and also somewhat demanding on phones.

You said this was tested on imgur.com, but are there any other websites you are able to load GIFs from and have them work fine? It may be issues with that one website and it is worth a shot to try out others if you do have the time.

Animated GIFs are fully supported, but they do require resources that some phones may not be able to handle while multi-tasking. I tried out a GIF, an animated one, on a DELL Venue Pro. It skipped occasionally and was a small GIF. It did not, however,
come to an empty page.

If you search
GIF on the suggestions page for Windows Phone 7, many results come up. I recommending adding your votes to the list, even to just improve GIF support.

WMP for version 1809...


My Windows 10 N, version 1803 had used Windows Media Player via installing it from the "Windows_MediaFeaturePack_x64_1803.msu" file.

Updating to 1809 removed the WMP and no longer available in the apps list:





There's an updated version listed at:

But clicking on the link and looking for the 1809 in the drop down list of versions does not show the media feature pack available for download for 1809; instead it shows version 1709 and 1803.

Does anyone have a direct link to WMP for Windows 10 N, version 1809?

I have Windows 10, version 1803 installed on my PC and unfortunately when I check for updates via Setting\Updates & Security\Windows Update, there is no feature update to version 1809 for me.

Why I don't receive any notification of Upgrade to 1809 ?
