Windows 10: W11 update 22H2 moved my system folders Documents, Downloads, ect to a new folder

On February 9th I got a message that my computer needed to restart to install updates. I allowed the restart and now all my system folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music and others have been moved to a folder called One Drive. Why did this happen and does this mean that these folders are no longer being stored locally? I do not want all my user files to be stored on the cloud, I want them on my computer!

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.
