    W7/W11 ComCtl32.dll


    Hi there,I’m having some trouble installing an older software. Funny enough, if I install the software on a freshly installed W7 test drive, it runs smoothly, but if I install it on W10 or W11, I get an error message saying:Your Windows Version isn’t up to date ComCtrl32.dll, 10.0.19041 To update windows, you have to install Internet Explorer or Office 97.Well, I did download and install Office 97 runs smoothly by the way but the message still appears.Now what confuses me more is, when I upgrade from W7 to W10 using an In-Place Upgrade, I get the message as well. Now, the software itself

    i tried this but got access denied when trying to paste the dll file into sysWOW64

    Windows 10 COMCTL32.dll is "missing"

    Hi,

    The comctl32.dll file is the file that represents the Common Control library in Windows.

    Comctl32.dll error messages might appear while using or installing certain programs, when Windows starts or shuts down, or maybe even during a Windows installation.

    I would suggest that you run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe). It is a utility in Windows that users can scan for corrupted system files and
    restore them.
