  1. Waittimes

My esteemed readers, it is with great concern that I address the unfortunate incident that has befallen me and my beloved family. Regrettably, we have fallen victim to the deceitful machinations of the Norton 360 scam, a mere few days ago. Allow me to recount the details of this distressing encounter.During the course of the scam, the fraudulent individual cunningly implored me to download a certain file onto my personal computer. Alas, I must confess that I, in my imprudence, acquiesced to their request. Consequently, at intermittent intervals, my computer screen would abruptly transition to

  2. Sharing Apps between accounts on the same computer

Longtime Windows users but first time owner. I purchased a laptop as a family computer and created an admin account for myself and added my kids. I first installed CHROME (free 3rd party) and then went to the app store and downloaded MINECRAFT (paid for
    in app store).

CHROME, after installing once is on all user accounts for the computer but minecraft is only on my admin account. I am having extreme difficulty figuring this out but seemingly the app store doesnt allow sharing of apps between accounts (regardless of it
being on the same computer) and if I want my kids to have minecraft, I need to purchase them each a copy? (let alone having purchased this for my admin account that i wont use).

    TWO QUESTIONS:

1 - can i purchase minecraft directly from minecraft (3rd party and not the microsoft store) to avoid this issue?

2 - is this a real issue i am having or is there a simple fix to give my kids permission to access the purchased copy of minecraft? (the license says it allows 10 instals on different devices)

I am at a loss how to manage this. I want to buy lots of apps for my kids but.... I need to buy multiple copies of the same thing so each kids has access to them on the same computer? There is not chat for windows support and the phone number I called told
me there was an extreme waittime and then hung up on me.

  3. # Doesn't silence N95

This does raise the general issue of Orange's firmware meddling.

I used to have an N70 on O2 in the UK which I loved like my own child. I then switched to Orange for a marginally more favourable tariff, and received an "Orangiefied" N70. I was at first disappointed, but then became angry at Orange's presumptious modifications
to what was a splendid user interface.

I hated the way the # key was re-used (yes, it was the same on the N70). I hated the Orange "home page" user interface and the loss of active standby. The Orange user interface is genuinely atrocious - poorly thought out and badly programmed. I hated the extra
processes the phone used to run (revealed with FExplorer) which slowed it down in general use by at least 25%. On top of that Orange's roaming service let me down a number of times whilst on business, and their call centre service is lamentable. I was never
once answered by dialling their standard service number (despite once doing a determined experiment to let it ring as long as necessary to take a waittime measurement, but giving up after 40 minutes in desperation). You have to engineer various "tricks" to
get your call answered, such as posing as a corporate buyer, getting through to the business sales and then demanding to be put through to a service operative.

    But I'm digressing.

It was a blessed relief to see out that Orange contract and get an N95 on O2. It would appear that O2 seem to offer phones with pretty much the spec that the manufacturer intended, and they should be applauded for taking that stance. And they answer the phone
and call you back when they promise. And No, I don't work for them...

  4. Waittimes

My applications hangs at WinHTTPReceiveResponse() for a unknown reason.

We use winhttp APIs to communicate with our server. Till now we were using SOAP req/res but recently we have introduced two new request which are JSON based REST req/res. Now My application hangs while receiving response for the one of the REST response.
I have tried to debug the problem the last point at which the code reaches is WinHTTPReceiveResponse() api call.

I have checked using the wireshark that the response is reached to my machine but not received by the application some how. The application remains in waiting state.

The failure occurs 80% time where as 20% time it succeeds. I am using same server and same payload in the request.

I have the below call stack from VS:

Please help me with your valuable experience.
