Wake-On-Lan only works when I disable NIC "magic packet only" option

I'm running Windows 10 Pro on an Asus P8Z68-VLX motherboard with a Realtek PCIe GBE family NIC. If I tick the "Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer" option in the Power Management options of the NIC I can't wake the PC using the Wake-On-Lan feature app from another Windows 10 PC. If I untick this option then wake-on-lan works fine. I've updated the NIC driver to the latest version (from Device Manager) but it didn't help.
The problem with leaving this option unticked is that other events seem to wake the NIC/PC at various times of the day, which I don't want.
Any idea how I can get the "only allow a magic packet" option to work as designed?

    :)

Windows 10 turns off network adapter (WOL not working)

You're right about this, Eldin. It is necessary that the Wake on Magic Packet to be enabled. In our current scenario, the option under the
Advanced tab will only show up, if these three options are enabled under the Power Management Tab:

    - Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

    - Allow this device to wake the computer

    • Only allow a magic packet to wake the computer (this should also be enabled)

Restart the PC when you are prompted (best even when not), then head back to the
Advanced tab, and look for the Wake on Magic Packet.

    Feel free to update us.

    Best regards.

  3. Wake on Lan stopped working after upgrading to windows 10

Hi, i have just upgraded to Windows 10 from windows 8.1, but i've noticed that the wake on lan feature has stopped working. I have looked for solutions on other forums, and turned off the fast boot in BIOS as many have suggested to do, but to no success.

In my network card settings there are no options to Wake on lan/Magic packet (however i have turned on the option "only allow a magic packet to wake up this computer") i have the latest updates to the network driver, as well as windows updates.
