Windows 10: Wallpaper disappeared after update

Had an update last night and restarted today. My desktop background is black. I went to settings and I can change the color but my wallpaper photos have disappeared. I see no way in settings to reset my wallpaper with my photos. Making things more complicated is NOT an update, it's a pain! Please advice how I can get my background back to the photos I choose. I have an HP desktop.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to restart the computer and check if you are able to successfully change the lock screen wallpaper.

  From Desktop, right click and select
  Personalize.
  
• 
  In Personalization window, click on
  Lock Screen in the left pane.
  
• 
  And choose wallpaper you would like to apply for the lock screen by choosing the browse option.
  
• 
  Close the Personalization window.

Windows 10 update removes wallpaper

Hi Paul,

Allow us to clarify some details so we can properly isolate the issue.

• Were you able to successfully install the update?
• Was it done automatically or did you do the update manually?
• What is the current build and version that is installed on your PC?
• Is the wallpaper the only thing that was affected by the upgrade?
• When you mentioned that you can't keep the background, do you mean to say that you can specify one but it goes away?
  

To check if you have the other wallpapers available, kindly do these steps:

• Click on Start and type Settings on the
  Search bar.
• Click on Personalization.
• Click on Background.

Wallpaper disappearing

hurrah, think i have found a fix at least, certainly works for me.

I have a nokia 6288. every time i turn it off, the wallpaper keeps disappearing and i lose ringtone settings.

The solution: turn on your fone. You need to apply one of the phone's default themes (go to menu/settings/themes)

Then, customize your phone the way you want it to work and choose your own wallpaper etc. Now switch your phone off. When you switch your phone back on, hopefully, you will find that your settings including wallpaper are saved.

Hope you guys appreciate the effort that i went to to figure this out haha. i first tried reinstalling/updating the firmware. This was extemely annoying and time consuming task as the update software is pretty buggy and i think there is a generic hardware issue
with the usb cable connectors for this model of phone.
