Windows 10: want to extract product key from old windows file

in 2021 i upgraded my pc from windows 7 to windows 10, after that my pc had some issues due to which i needed to change some partslike motherboard and added a ssd.on my new ssd i got a unactivated windows 7 installed, now since the support for windows 7 has ended i am thinking to shift to windows 10.i have my old hard disk plugged in which has my windows fileactivated. i am looking for a way to either extract my product key from that file or install that windows 10 and update it. can you please help memy pc specs are as follows:cpu- intel core 2 duo E7200no gpuram- ddr2 4gbstorage- 240gig S

Thanks pyramid10 for your contribution, I ensured that the steps taken and the source and destination folders were the same, in the using zip7 as suggested by BunnyJ resolved all issues for me.
I am the first to admit that I am a long long way from understanding the intricacies of computers and if truth be told I am now to old anyway to absorb much information.

Are the step-by-step processes identical? That is, the folder extracted from and the folder extracted to belong to the same hierarchical file system structure. If they are, that suggests mildly the Cumulative Update left an electron or two out of place.

 

Extracting product key for Windows 10

I understand that you want to know the product key for the version of Windows you are using on your PC.



Kindly follow the steps to extract the product key from your PC.

1. Click on the Search Bar on the bottom left hand corner and type
   CMD.
   
2. Now right click on it and click on
   Run as administrator.
   
3. Now type in the following command and hit enter:
   wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
   
4. You will see the product key after the command is executed.
   

If you have upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7/8.1, then the product will be digitally linked to your Microsoft account, and you might not be able to see the product key after executing the above command.
