Windows 10: Was running Ver 1909 and had the Feature delay set for 45 days ..Still updated to 2004

when I got the update I got the Error Feature update to windows 10, version 2004 - error 0xc1900223


Tried it twice same error


Are they ignoring the Feature delay I had set ?

Stuck With Ver 2004

Hi Ali

if you want to leave the insider program now your only option is to keep nothing, better to clean install windows 10 1909.

however, 2004 will be release to the public soon (assuming no major delays due to the current global issues), it might be worth considering simply stopping insider builds.

this will opt your device out of flighting when 2004 is released to the public

settings -> update & security -> windows insider program

turn on "stop getting insider builds"

 

Delaying Feature Updates

Those MS instruction are for deferring/pausing updates in Settings, rather than gpedit. The 'defer' and 'pause' settings work independently and have quite different effects. You can use one, the other, or both.

The two Defer settings specify how many days to wait after a feature or cumulative update is published before it will be listed as available in Windows Update.

The Pause function stops Windows Update from checking for updates and sets a date for it to resume. On resumption, your defer settings (if you have made any) will still apply as before.


Note that there is a bug in 1903 Pro which will make either of the Defer settings disappear from the Advanced options page if they are set to a non-zero number of days. Although you cannot see them in Settings once you have set a number of days, they are still active and will defer by the days you chose. See here for more on that...

The Strange Case of the Missing Pause Feature Update Setting

 

problem updating from vers 1809 to 1909

I've tried updating my version of windows 10, a few times actually. Most recently I got error code 0x80070157 but I can't find any info on it and don't know why I'm having so much trouble. Another time I couldn't update because I had my updates set to
auto and it wouldn't update because another update was in progress. It seems odd to me that an update for vers 1909 would process when I have 1809. I would think the first step would be to see if there was a match instead of waiting to the to say oh we're
different I can't proceed. A kinda cart before the horse scenario. Anyway suggestions would be appreciated.
