Windows 10: Was there the edit functions on Microsoft Photo Version 2022.31100.24013.0??

HiI would like to know the difference between Microsoft Photo Version 2022.31100.24013.0 and 2023.11010.17009.0.Its because, I would like to know there was the edit function for photo in 2022.31100.24013.0 or not.I just want to know ,When was the edit functions gone and came back.thanks

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

I understand you're having issues with missing photo editing options and editing features that don't work.



The latest update is the KB5014699 update released on June 14, 2022, which we installed on our device and tested opening a photo and trying to edit it.



We have no issues with missing editing options with our functionality intact.



You can try resetting the Photos app to see if that helps.



Settings - Apps - Apps & Features - Find the Photos app in the list and tap - Advanced Options - Reset

Let us know if it works.

CHANGES IN PHOTO EDITING ON MICROSOFT ON 6-15-2022

With today's (6-15-2022) "Update" you've completely ruined the "PHOTO EDITING" ability on Microsoft! You've taken away the other options that were available yesterday to "EDIT PHOTO" plus it's very difficult to even figure out how to edit the photos. There are NO CHOICES to "DRAW" and 2 other options to change a Photograph. (Very DISAPPOINTED that when changes to edit photos are made they are most often worse that the previous ones!!)

 

Photos hangs or has an error saving video edits in November 2022 version

Thanks for your swift and comprehensive reply.

As mentioned in the original post, I have already tried a number of the common troubleshooting steps covered in the links you provided, including:

• Repairing Photos
  
• Resetting Photos
  
• Uninstalling (using PowerShell) and reinstalling Photos (from Microsoft Store).
  

Some further details:

• I have since run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter, and the problem persists.
  
• Windows Update shows no available updates.
  
• Unfortunately, there is no System Restore point available.
  

I feel it's highly unlikely this problem can be fixed using common troubleshooting measures. That's because multiple signs suggest it is an inherent flaw or limitation introduced with the recent version of Photos:

• There was no problem before Photos updated itself to the latest, significantly changed version. The previous version was last successfully used in the same manner, four days before the app updated, and for years prior to that. No other system changes, Windows updates, or new software installations have occurred since that date. The system software environment in general is very minimalist and static. Outside culprits are unlikely.
  
• The same problem is encountered on two different Windows 10 PCs running the same version of Photos.
  
• Photos IS able to edit and save a trim from a sample file downloaded here: https://samplelib.com/sample-mp4.html. The sample file is a much smaller resolution, framerate, duration, and bitrate than the files I normally edit. However, the previous version of Photos had no problem with these files.
  
• I experimented by recording a file at lower resolution and Photos was able to edit and save it. However, the resulting video has an over-exposed appearance to it, similar to an issue I have always observed when using Photos to save a frame as an image file.
  
• An unrelated, but also widely observed issue by other users, is that video files always open muted with the volume slider set at 75/100 in the current version of Photos. They must be unmuted every time they are opened.
  

These observations are important as they seem to rule out most of the possible systemic causes of this problem. It's not a file or folder permission issue. It's probably not a settings or configuration issue. It's probably not a malware or maintenance/performance issue.

In all likelihood, this major update to the Photos app, at least on Windows 10 systems, introduced a number of bugs or limitations such as the ones mentioned above. These problems almost certainly will not be resolved unless Microsoft specifically addresses them.

Until then, I will unfortunately have no choice but to use an alternative program. However, nothing will be as built-in and convenient for quick, simple video trimming as Photos was prior to the recent update.
