Windows 10: WAV format

Is there a way to copy files in mp3 format from windows media player to a memory stick. Mine copy in WAV format

:)

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

Microsoft is aware of this issue. It has to to do with old type of wav files.

The only option right now is to check with your provider and/or phone system and make a system wide change for the audio recording wav format.

Original recording format = PCM MU-LAW (G.711)

New recording format = Linear PCM

Once you have done that it will work perfectly.

I had our IT on campus change this and it works perfectly,

As a suggestion, set up an account at
www.PhoneConvert.com and then forward your voicemail attachments there - they will be converted to mp3, or mp4 (or other formats, if required) and emailed back to you.



Until a .wav codec is available and upgraded, it's a good work-around.
