    WD 4TB usb drive only allows 1 32GB and won't allow any more backups to stack on the 4TB, I m locked out even though I can get it mounted RW anyone else have trouble with a WD? ,

    External 4TB Drive - WD My Passport 4TB or Seagate Backup Plus 4TB

    Looking to get an external HDD to transfer large files between the desktop / laptop as well as general backing up. I am looking at the WD My Passport 4TB or Seagate Backup Plus 4TB.

    Typically I lean towards WD, but I've only ever used internal drives. Any reason to consider the Seagate over the WD? Or other particular models I should look at instead of these two? Reliability and durability is most important, followed by speed. Not too sure if I am reading the Seagate's warranty PDF correctly, but it looks like it only has a 90 day warranty compared to WD's 3. But if I am reading that right, it is certainly a reason to consider the WD.

    Clean installing WIN10 with WD My Cloud Mirror (4tb)

    Any suggestions prior to either upgrading to WIN 10 or clean installing will be appreciated.

    I use WD MCM 4TB as storage on my SP3 with file backup on MCM's second drive.

    No files are on my Surface Pro 3 other than program files and a few working files on my SP3 desktop. Everything else is in MCM.

    I'm considering a clean install AFTER the upgrade which is the recommended procedure: upgrade to WIN10, get all credentials locked into the WINDOWS/ MICROSOFT system then create an iso and do a clean install, or clean install from the WIN10 on the PC itself.

    Do you think I need to do anything special to prepare for WIN10 or to WD MCM, which is network connected, during this process?
