    I'm using windows 11 and windows 10 laptops. I have a wd external hard drive 1tb capacity which was working without any problems. Few days back I remove it from the devices and printers window because the safe to remove disk option in the system tray was failing to eject it normally. While removing the drive from the devices and printers the bitlocker encryption was in unlock status for the drive. After that whenever I connect the drive into the laptop windows 11 it is not detected in the file explorer. And the drive is in not initialized status in the disk management. But if I initialize it

    Hi,

    I recently tried to connect my WD Extrernal 1 TB passport to my windows PC. After connecting, I hear the normal click sound that appears on connecting on any external device. But I dont see any device shown in the explorer. I do see my passport under disk
    management with different allocation. Kindly suggest what can be done to access the files on the hard disk. I also tried to connect it to a Windows laptop but the same thing.

    NOTE: I did not make any change to either PC or hard disk.

    My WD Passport external hard drive won't open. It's listed in device manager and in the properties is listed as "working properly".

    External hard drive shown as Primary Partition in Disk Management

    Just clean install my laptop. After windows successfully installed, as usual i connect to internet, format and give name to D drive in Disk Management. After couple of minutes i plug my external hard drive to copy paste my backup to laptop and everything done, i try to eject my external hard drive but the eject button just grey out and cant click it, i check disk management and my external hard drive shown as Primary Partition.
    My External Hard Drive is WD Passport 1TB. .

    Just reboot and fixed.
