Windows 10: wd my passport not showing up in file explorer.

So I know the drive isnt faulty, its just user error on the software side. What happened was I was using an ISO burning tool to burn password recovery software FOR FUTURE USE, MY PASSWORDS ARE FINE to an external flash drive. What i didnt know was that i was stupid and did something wrong, and i just give up on the pw recovery software, and i checked drive manager, it was healthy and good BUT was a "gpt protected partition" or something like that. How do i make this a storage device again and not a boot device? It doesnt appear in file explorer due to no drive letter.

Can't access files restored from wd passport

I have looked at the numerous inquiries on this subject. Most are old and the suggestions do not coincide with the menu selections. So, I will try this.

• New computer HP pavillion
• Windows 10
• Backup files stored on wd passport
• restored the files to the new pc
• can't view, access,
• message that I don't have permission
• tried to change permission
• did not work

 

WD My Passport 0740 not showing under Send to or Save as option

Old title; wd passport 0740

My inspiron desktop is running very low on storage. i ordered a new system, but wanted to save selected files from the old computer to send to my new system. i had a wd 1 tb passport 0740 i had used to backup movies when i had dish. after i changed to
fios, i could not see the movies any longer anyhow, so thought i could use the passport for this purpose. i ran into a problem however: i cannot find it to select to save files to. when i select either "save as" or "send to,"

the passport is not an option.

i researched the problem here and on other sites also. i tried most of the "fixes " suggested. i made sure i had the software on the old computer and checked that the driver was updated. The devise blue light is on and it whirls. i tried other ports
and there was no change. Under devices and printers, the passport shows on the hardware tab that it is working properly and is a storage devise. On the devise manager, it shows up under disk drives as "wd my passport 0740 usb devise." it also shows up at
the very bottom of the list under the category "wd drive management devise". i downloaded easeUS partion master and got totally lost trying to figure out how to do just simple file transfers rather than sending over my entire hard drive, which i fear would
quickly put me in the same problem i have with my old inspiron.

am i missing something? is it possible to send files a folder or document or music file to the passport and if so, how is it done? i have spent the better portion of 3 very long days trying to figure out what seems should be an easy thing to do. it was
a piece of cake to save movies to it when i had dish.
