    In anticipation of the Windows 11 Insider builds, I decided to rejoin the Windows Insider Programme only to be faced with an error when pressing the 'Get started' button in the 'Windows Insider Programme' settings page.Error:"Something went wrong", "We aren't able to talk to our service at the moment. Please try again later."Things I've tried:I've checked Event Viewer and no new events happen when I press 'Get started'I've run both DISM restore-health and SFC /scannowI've deleted the WindowsSelfhost key in Registry Editor I've updated to the latest feature update 21H1Additional Info: I stron

    I have the critical error message at startup. CRITICAL ERROR START MENU AND CORTANA AREN`T WORKING will try and correct next time you sign in. Sign out now

    The same message appears next time

    I sign in. It is impossible to get past this screen as you have no start menu. Any help would be appreciated

  3. Icons from apps aren´t displayed correctly

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting your query at Microsoft community.

    Do the apps work fine apart form the icons not displaying correctly? If so I would suggest you to run an SFC scan and check if it helps. If the issue persists you may run DISM command and check.

    Follow this steps:


      • Press Windows+X.

      • Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

      • Type the command SFC /SCANNOW and
        DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and hit
        Enter.

    sfc /scannow "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"

    Hi,

    Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service is an error which may occur if you are trying to run the System File Checker tool (SFC /SCANNOW) to scan and repair Windows system files. To resolve this error, we suggest that you follow the
    steps below:

    • Press the Windows + R keys to open run command box.
    • In the run command box, type services.msc, and press
      Enter.
    • In the list of services, double click the Windows Modules Installer service.
    • Set the startup type to Auto, and click OK.
    • Restart your computer.
    • After the restart, you'll be able to run the sfc /scannow command without any problems.
