Windows 10: We can no longer download pictures and videos from our camera to the computer.

I can no longer download my pictures and videos. I plug my cannon camera into the computer Windows 10, and turn the camera on so that I can view the pictures. I hear the little music that tells me the camera is connected to the computer, but nothing happens. Before a little screen would pop up and ask what would I’d like to do with Cannon Power Shot. I would press ‘import pictures’ and a few seconds later it would say the import was complete. Very easy. But now, nothing happens.I wanted to do a system recovery but am unsure if that would help. Not able to download photos from my camera into Windows 10?

• When you say that "download photos from my camera", are you referring that are not able to download or copy the pictures from the Camera into the computer?
• Is the Camera getting recognized on the computer?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to import the photos from the Camera to the computer.

1. Open File Explorer.

2. Then connect your Camera to the Computer. If you are using SD memory card in the Camera, then you can insert it in the
SD card reader attaching it to the computer. After that you can copy and paste the contents into the computer.

3. If you are connecting through wire, then you might get Autoplay window on the right side of the screen.

4. Then you can select Import photos and videos. It will copy all the contents from the Camera into the computer.

As of now, I suggest you to run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Also, try to download and install the latest chipset drivers for the computer and install the same.

Cameras no longer upload to computer

  • Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box
    ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
