    When I try to do a clean install of Win10 Home 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron N5010 (a little over 4 years old) using the Media Creation Tool on a USB, I get to the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen and when I select the Drive 0 Unallocated Space I get "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see Setup log files." I've tried looking for lag files on the USB drive but can not find any.

    I've also tried unplugging the USB drive at this point thinking the installer might be confused about where to install windows but this doesn't help and creates another error (0x80300001)

    I've also tried using the DISKPART tool to create and format a new partition. No help there as well.
    Any ideas?

    Update: I know that the install program can find and communicate with the HD because it had no problem letting me delete the recovery, system, and primary partitions leaving me with one large unallocated partition and no way back to the previous OS. FY, I do have an Acronis backup of all of the Win7 partitions but I'm at a loss for how to recreate the empty partitions into which to restore the backup. Yikes, what a mess.

    Solved: It was a USB issue with the Dell Inspiron! My original installation tool was created on a USB3 flash drive. I created another installation tool on an older USB drive and it worked.

    Oh I can't believe it. You're welcome. The video was so straight forward and pretty easy to follow. Someone else said it helped them also. I hope the installation lasts.
