I have seen many forum threads about this when trying to upgrade Windows 10 from ISO 1909->20H2. None of them give the right answer. The correct answer is that Secure Boot is messing with it. Try going into BIOS and tweaking the settings. That worked first time for me after a dozen attempts to try other fixes.See C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.logJust posting to save some other person some time.

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

Windows 10 upgrade: Something Happened error: can't tell if your PC is ready

    Something happened

We can't tell if your PC is ready to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting setup.

This is starting to be annoying.

We have 2 laptops of the same model, one installed windows 10 no problems. The other won't install it.

The only difference I can think of is that the one that can't be upgraded has Windows 8.1 Pro with media centre.
